I love cooking with real food—fruits, veggies, meat, poultry, fish, nuts, oils, grains, and so much more. I understand the importance of utilizing whole food ingredients because our bodies can easily understand and process them! Although I love my veggies, you will definitely see me enjoying a chocolaty dessert whenever possible. It’s all about balance!

Although preparing a three-course fancy dinner is fun on occasion, it definitely is not realistic. I want to share the real habits of home cooks, meal prepping musts, or how to throw together nutritious meals on-the-fly with what you have leftover in your fridge. The Real Meal helps take the guesswork out of the kitchen and boost home cook’s confidence so you can rely on your strong cooking knowledge instead of exact recipes.

Hi, I’m Kaitlin! I was born and raised in Southern California and now live in the beautiful state of Minnesota. I balance a career in software while working as a personal chef.

I created The Real Meal because I’ve always been passionate about food. As a former gymnast, I loved learning how to best fuel my body with food. Now, you’ll find me perfecting cooking techniques in my kitchen, reading cook books for fun, and sharing meals with my friends & family.
